Marvin E. Meinhart

Marvin E.  Meinhart, 69 of LaSalle, MI, died Friday, January 12, 2018, in Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI, surrounded by his loving family.  Born December 23, 1948, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Melvin E. and Betty J. (Wright) Meinhart. A 1967 graduate from Bedford High School, he then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Marvin married Linda M. Brockway on July 17, 1971.  He was employed by the Ford Motor Company in Woodhaven for 34 years, retiring in 2002. Marvin was a longtime and active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Temperance, MI, where he served on the church council and property committee. He was also a member of the U.A.W., Local 387 in Flat Rock, MI. He enjoyed The Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, NASCAR, fishing, camping, making wine, wintering in Florida, hunting, gardening, traveling, playing cards, but most of all watching his grandchildren at all their events.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Linda; children, Jeannine (James) Keck, Heather (Michael) Parker, Penny (Chad) Ganchou and Melvin Meinhart; sisters, Linda (Roy) Butler and Ellen (Bill) Burgard; grandchildren, Theron, Joe, Ethan, Kaden, Thomas, Victoria, Nate and Clara. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 9144 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where he will lie in state after 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
